Chapter 4

Chapter 4 discussed community relations. The chapter stated that "Community Relations, as a public relations function, is an instituton's planned, active, and continuing participation within a community to maintain and enhance its environment to the benefit of both the institution and the community." It also went on to discuss the different roles of public relations and the involvement it has in its community relationships. It explained the way organizations go on to conduct themselves in communities where they do buisness and the three strategic levels that need to be planned: defensive, proactive, and maintenance. These levels are important because they allow organziations to maintain good relationships with the public and to do positive things in ways that appeal to the community. It also talked about having trust with the people and how by having that trust allows for employees to become ambassadors with community. Which is a great way to become well known and develop community relationships.
